Statement of Purpose

Tom's Place, California | © John S. Kiewit
The principal purpose of the John S. Kiewit Memorial Foundation is to protect the land and other natural resources of the California Central Coast and or neighboring regions of California from the effect of development, by means such as purchase, conservation easements, education or other methods, in order to preserve the open and agriculture character of the priceless assets.

The Directors may also, in their discretion, expend up to 30% of the funds available for grants each year, to support local Santa Barbara non-profit charitable institutions, such as the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and/or educational organizations, events of photography, or individuals who are contributing to the protection of such land and resources.
